Our Story

Malawi has always had
something to give the world.

We just make it easier to reach you — whether that's a hand-carved basket, a length of chitenje fabric, or a bag of highland groundnuts.

Malawi Crafts started with a simple frustration: incredible work was being made all over Malawi — woven baskets in village markets, chitenje fabric cut by local tailors, groundnuts and coffee grown on small family farms — and almost none of it was reachable from outside the country. Buyers abroad either couldn't find it, or gave up trying to figure out shipping, payment, and trust with an unfamiliar seller.

So we built the bridge. Malawi Crafts works directly with artisans, weavers, and farmers across the country, and handles everything a buyer shouldn't have to think about — sourcing, quality control, payment, and international shipping — so a single retail buyer and a wholesale importer can both get exactly what they came for.

What started as a small handcrafts catalogue has grown into three things at once: a marketplace for Malawian handcrafts and textiles, a direct supplier of Malawian produce like groundnuts, coffee, and maize to buyers anywhere in the world, and a sourcing service for the specific, hard-to-find pieces that don't fit neatly into a catalogue at all.

What We Stand For

The principles behind every order

Fair to the source

Artisans and farmers are paid fairly and promptly — the whole model only works if it works for them first.

Verified quality

Every item is checked before it ships. What you order is what arrives — no surprises, no substitutions.

No order too small or large

A single gift basket gets the same care as a bulk export contract. Everyone gets a straight answer and a fair quote.

How Far We've Come

Our journey so far

The beginning

A small handcrafts catalogue

We started by listing a handful of woven baskets and carvings from artisans we knew personally, shipping orders one at a time.

Growing the network

Textiles join the catalogue

Word spread among weavers and tailors, and chitenje fabric and made-to-order garments became part of what we offered.

Becoming a supplier

Produce & export begins

We partnered directly with farmers to supply groundnuts, coffee, and maize — from single retail bags to wholesale export volume.
